NIP Uncovered...

Was planning to write this post at some point soon, just not tonight. But... I found this blog, a post on a completely different subject (that part of me would love to post about... but I'm not sure I can do it w/out getting upset and would get in trouble on top of that) and out of curiousity clicked on her newest post.. and had to share it.

I'm not going to go into a lot of details. I really don't pay attention to the Kardashians.. but some things you just can't avoid seeing and one of them royally sticking her foot in her mouth (via Twitter) was one of them. I'd heard about it earlier... but this post on it is stinking hilarious.  Link - Kardashian's Call To Cover Up

On a similar subject... and what I'd intended to write to begin with.. Everything is going great in that area here. I do still tend to use a blanket (poor Zavier lol) when we're at Church or around a few certain people. It makes things a lot more complicated especially when no more is really covered than when I nurse uncovered (potentially less if the baby throws it at the wrong time, happened with Kalila), but... still. I have gotten better around a few of them out of necessity.

But the big thing I just had to share was an NIP experience a week or so ago. We ran to Home Depot w/ Gido to look for something or another (I forget lol). While we were there Zavier got hungry... of course... we'd been out for awhile. Thankfully there was a good place to sit (I can while walking around, but its not easy esp with his size), the patio section. We headed over there (me & Zavier, the others were across the store still lol) and got situated. A few minutes later a lady walked up and said "The best kind of food..." and walked off.  Seriously I think it was the best comment I've ever gotten on the subject. Just made me feel good.

What a great comment! Layla always freaked out about having her face covered, even when she was tiny. At first I was really self-conscious, but then I realized that feeding my baby came 1st. I learned to cover most of my breast with my hand, scarf, or whatever I had, and just to be paying attention when she decided to be done :-)

Zavier doesn't freak out over it so far, but its easy to tell he's not happy with it either. Kalila did freak over it though, is why I got used to nursing uncovered too lol.

I do the nursing tank under a shirt thing so w/ her I didn't have to cover anything w/ my hand at all, and didn't have to watch as closely to make sure we stayed modest. Kalila was easy lol. Zavier though... I still do the same method, but I do have to cover myself w/ my hand a certain way during the latch.. took me a few tries to get it down. Plus I have to stay very focused on what's going on w/ him because he'll pop off. I've managed not to flash anyone so far though so its working still lol. Part of that diff might be the age thing though... Kalila was so much older when I got up the courage to nurse "uncovered" with her.

As for the self conscious thing... I still get that way sometimes, which I kind of got at in the post. I'm trying to get past that... it annoys me lol. What's funny is its more with people (esp family) than anyone else.

I love that post! And this post. Now I know what to say when I make eye contact with a breastfeeding woman (not that this has ever happened since I try to respect *their* privacy and don't want them to feel uncomfortable).

You just gave me an idea for a whole new post lol. Thanks! Waiting until after FD though :-)

funny about kim. I only cover up at Mass everywhere else I don't. No one can see anything. I have nursing tanks and usually I wear loose shirts. No one has ever said anything positive or negative. My church has no cry room so I'm a little uncomfortable. I try to sit in the back and go to the children's Mass. No one's said anything so I guess it's no big deal. anyway baby needs bath before Mass. Later!

My husband didn't like me nursing in from of his 12yr. old bro. I just was never a big fan of hiding in another room like I was doing something evil.
I like the nursing tanks or just the regular tanks with a built in bra, but I usually pull down the top shirt rather than lift it up.

Uggh. Don't get me started on hiding away in another room. There are a few places it happens to us. If there's a lot of people & I'm uncomfortable in general (because I'm not good around big groups even when not nursing lol) then I'm fine with having a break and it doesn't bother me... but that's happening less often and its more and more like I'm shut off from everyone and I hate it. But not my house... Hasn't happened w/ Zavier yet thankfully. Now if I'm told to go to a restroom that is not gonna happen period. It did once w/ Kalila (w/ family no less) and I fumed the whole time and said never again. I'll leave before I'll nurse in one again.

I can't go through the top modestly lol.. just doesn't work for me personally. At home I do it a lot though.
